China's total imports and exports expanded 27.1 percent year on year to reach 18.07 trillion yuan (about $2.79 trillion) in the first half of 2021, of which exports increased 28.1 percent to reach 9.85 trillion yuan and imports rose 25.9 percent to stand at 8.22 trillion yuan, according to data released by the General Administration of Customs on Tuesday. China’s foreign trade volume has achieved positive year-on-year growth for 13 consecutive months.

China-EU trade jumped 26.7 percent from a year ago to 2.52 trillion yuan (389 billion U.S. dollars) in the first half, representing 13.9 percent of China’s total trade volume, which makes EU the second-largest trade partner of China following ASEAN.

据海关统计，今年上半年，我国外贸进出口总值18.07万亿元，比去年同期增长27.1%，其中出口9.85万亿元，增长28.1%；进口8.22万亿元，增长25.9%。我国外贸进出口已连续13个月实现同比正增长。同时，今年上半年，中国与欧盟双边贸易额为2.52万亿元人民币，按年增长26.7%。中欧贸易占中国外贸总值达到13.9%，欧盟是仅次於东盟的中国第二大贸易夥伴。

The Ministry of Education on Tuesday announced that after-school services are scheduled to achieve full coverage in all compulsory education schools starting this fall. Schools will provide after-school services from Monday to Friday, at least 2 hours per day after school, making it possible for parents to pick up their children after work.

教育部13日召开新闻通气会介绍，课后服务将在今年秋季开学后实现义务教育学校全覆盖，并努力实现有需要的学生全覆盖。课后服务推行“5 2”模式，即学校每周5天都要开展课后服务，每天至少开展2小时，结束时间要与当地正常下班时间相衔接。

疫情简报：

2 new locally transmitted cases were reported yesterday, one from Yunnan and the other from Jiangsu Province. Some towns in Jiangxi, Zhejiang and Jiangsu announced that individuals who haven’t been vaccinated with Covid shots could be banned from public places like hospitals, schools, care homes and libraries.

昨日新增本土确诊病例2例（云南一例，江苏一例）。日前，多地相继发布告知书没接种新冠疫苗将影响出行。原则上不允许未接种新冠疫苗人员（禁忌症者除外）进入医疗机构住院部、养老院、学校（幼儿园、托儿所、校外培训机构）、图书馆、博物馆、监所等重点场所。

The global COVID-19 vaccination distributer COVAX will receive more than 100 million doses from the Chinese companies Sinopharm and Sinovac, according to the vaccine alliance Gavi. China has provided more than 500 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine and raw solution to more than 100 countries and international organizations around the world, equivalent to one-sixth of the current global production, said Zhao Lijian, spokesperson of Foreign Ministry.

全球疫苗免疫联盟(Gavi)宣布和中国国药及科兴生物签署预购协议(APA)，两家企业将自7月起向“新冠肺炎疫苗实施计划”(COVAX)提供超一亿剂疫苗。外交部发言人赵立坚主持例行记者会表示，截至目前，中国已向全球100多个国家和国际组织提供了5亿多剂新冠疫苗和原液，相当于当前全球新冠疫苗总产量的六分之一。

China’s new five-year plan aims to achieve green development with peak carbon emissions by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060. This will be a challenge to achieve as China is still in its process of urbanization and industrialization. Although China's emissions continue to grow, carbon intensity per unit GDP had fallen by 48% in the fifteen years up to the end of 2019. China has also been making efforts to expand its forest area. In 1978, the government approved the three north shelter forest program in an effort to hold the expansion of desert. Since then the forest coverage in this northern region has risen from 5% to 13%. It now forms one of China's biggest strips of planted trees. 23% of the land in China was covered by forests in 2020, more than doubled than 1950s, and it aims to reach 26% by 2035.

China's Ministry of Commerce on Monday pledged to actively expand the integrated pilot zones for cross-border e-commerce to cultivate new competitive edges in foreign trade. Some cities have submitted applications to the State Council for the establishment of new pilot zones and the Ministry will join relevant departments in carrying out related work.

商务部部长助理任鸿斌7月12日在国新办举行的发布会上表示，商务部将积极做好跨境电商综合试验区扩围工作。目前，已有部分城市向国务院提出新设综试区的申请，若干城市正在申报中。商务部将按照国务院统一部署，会同有关部门，做好新一批扩围工作。

Zhang Jindong, the billionaire founder of Chinese retailing conglomerate Suning Holdings, stepped down as chairman of the e-commerce arm Suning.com in a major leadership shuffle after the debt-ridden conglomerate got a 1.36 billion bailout from state investor and Alibaba Group.

7月12日晚间，苏宁易购公告，董事长张近东向董事会提出辞职。董事会换届前，苏宁易购引入新一轮战投。

China's antitrust regulator unconditionally approved on Tuesday Tencent Holdings’ plan to take the country's no.3 search engine Sogou private in a $3.5 billion deal. After the transaction is completed, Sogou will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tencent. Tencent closed at HK$555.5, up 3.93 percent on Tuesday.

据国家市场监管总局官网显示，已无条件批准腾讯控股有限公司收购搜狗公司股权。该交易一旦完成，搜狗将成为腾讯的间接全资子公司，从纽约证券交易所退市。腾讯今日收涨3.93%，报555.5港元。

The market value of China’s lithium-ion battery giant CATL rose to close 1.35 trillion yuan intraday, closing at 563.01 yuan. Its market value stood at 1.31 trillion yuan, ranking forth in companies listed in A-share. CATL’s price has increased over 60 percent this year.

锂电池龙头企业宁德时代市值一度逼近1.35万亿元。宁德时代收报563.01元，总市值1.31万亿元，位列A股第四。该股年内累涨幅度超60%。

The Biden administration on Monday asked two federal appeals courts to dismiss the U.S. Justice Department's legal challenges to court rulings that barred a Trump-era effort to ban new downloads of Chinese video-sharing app TikTok.

当地时间周一，拜登政府要求两家联邦上诉法院驳回司法部此前的上诉，这意味着拜登政府已经决定从司法层面完全撤回特朗普执政时期对TikTok的禁令。

Chinese stocks closed higher on Tuesday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.53 percent, at 3566 points. The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.18 percent higher at 15189 points. ChiNext Index historically surpassed the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index at around 9 a.m. today for the first time, and then fell in fluctuation.

周二股市高开高走，集体收涨。截至收盘，沪指涨0.53%，报收3566点；深成指涨0.18%，报收15189点。今晨9时许创业板指点位历史性地超过上证指数，随后震荡走低。
